The U-value (formerly k-value) is the most important value in the thermal assessment of building components. With the new testo 635, this is easier than ever to determine. Three temperature values are required to calculate the U-value: the outside temperature, the surface temperature of the inside wall and the room air temperature. With the new wireless sensors, the outside temperature can be determined quickly and conveniently with the window closed. The sensor is simply positioned outside and transmits the measured values by radio to the measuring device in the room. With the new, patented U-value sensor, the other two required temperatures can be determined with just one sensor. To measure the surface temperature, the three wires of the U-value sensor are attached to the inside wall with plasticine. The air temperature is determined via a sensor on the sensor plug. The three required temperatures are determined by the connected temperature sensors and transmitted to the testo 635. From this, the instrument calculates the U-value and shows it directly on the display.
