The sustainability philosophy
with neoLab


neoLab stands for sustainable behaviour. Under the hashtag #neogreen, we have summarised various campaigns from our social, ecological and economic areas: re::Lab brings goods that would otherwise be disposed of back onto the market, packaging material is reused multiple times, and we are working intensively with a renowned chair on the production of biodegradable plastics for our products.

We support regional biodiversity

For us, sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it is part of our daily responsibility.

As an ISO 14001-certified company, we are committed to continuously reducing our environmental impact and using resources responsibly.

To support this goal, we charge an environmental surcharge of €10 for orders with a value of less than €50.

We hope to achieve two things with this contribution:

  1. Raise awareness – Small individual orders generate significantly more packaging material, transport routes, and emissions in relative terms. By bundling purchases, we can work together to reduce our carbon footprint and increase the efficiency of our delivery processes.
  2. Do good locally – We donate 50% of the environmental surcharge to local projects that are committed to preserving and promoting regional biodiversity. This means that part of every contribution goes directly to nature on our doorstep – for more habitats, flowering areas, and biodiversity in our region.

This turns a small contribution into a big step towards sustainability.

Together with our customers, we want to show that responsible action and economic thinking can go hand in hand.

neoGreenBadge - Products

Due to disposable products, laboratories often generate large amounts of plastic waste. At neoLab, we try to offer our customers product alternatives that have a positive impact on the sustainability of laboratories. neoLab has introduced various criteria that a product must meet in order to be awarded the neoGreen badge:


Sustainability through the selection of the right material:

The products we offer must be made from environmentally friendly materials and must not contain any toxic or harmful substances. To minimise our ecological footprint, we prefer products that are recyclable or biodegradable.


Sustainability through energy efficiency:

At neoLab, we focus on products that consume less energy than similar products. Laboratory freezers probably consume the most electricity. By using modern models with highly efficient cooling systems, effective automatic defrosting and high-quality insulation, we protect the environment and significantly reduce operating costs.


Sustainability through reusability:

We are already thinking about tomorrow today. We specifically look for products that can be reused in the laboratory.


Sustainability through better organisation:

Products that contribute to more efficient organisation in the workplace can help reduce waste and avoid investments. Through the conscious use and selection of special products, our customers can contribute to environmental protection in the laboratory while working efficiently and cost-effectively.

A second chance – for every item

re::Lab - Produkte

Goods that would otherwise have to be disposed of are put back on the market by us at a reduced price and do not end up in the rubbish bin.

These include, for example, goods whose best-before date has passed but which may still be fully usable for some laboratories. A concrete example of this is protective suits against infectious agents or consumables with an expired best-before date. With minor restrictions, these items are still very useful for other or similar applications.

Re-sterilising goods that are no longer sterile is usually too costly. As a result, they often end up in the rubbish, even though they are still fully functional apart from their sterile properties. Under the re::Lab label, they do not become waste, but are reintroduced into the economic cycle.

With re::Lab, we are making a direct contribution to environmental sustainability, albeit a small one.

Cycle to work and protect the environment

With currently (as of November 2022) around 12 company bikes, we save almost 300 tonnes of CO2 per year when used 50% of the time for commuting.

We help to reduce CO2 emissions and at the same time support the health of our employees. Another step forward for neoGreen in terms of ecology.

Since the beginning of 2021, every neoLab employee has had the opportunity to use a job bike. Whether for private use or on the way to work, our job bike helps us stay fit and protects our climate at the same time.

neoLab has reused more than 15,000 cardboard boxes in 2022.

neoGreen – Reusing packaging

One of our measures is to reuse packaging materials and cardboard boxes in order to reduce our environmental impact.

By reusing packaging materials and cardboard boxes, we can significantly reduce the amount of waste we produce. This not only helps to minimise our ecological footprint, but also contributes to the conservation of our natural resources.

At neoLab, we are proud that we can contribute to reducing our environmental impact by reusing packaging materials and cardboard boxes. 

Every cardboard box that has been reused is marked with special neoGreen adhesive tape. By using this tape, we want to show our customers that we are committed to sustainability and environmental protection. We hope that this small detail will help to raise awareness of recycling and reuse.

Wind energy Bhatel, India

neoLab is aware of the importance of sustainability and environmental protection. 

We are proud to support a climate protection project in Bhatel in the Indian state of Gujarat. 

By using 23 wind turbines with a total output of 50.6 MW, we can save around 167,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. The project thus makes a valuable contribution to climate protection and at the same time promotes sustainable development in India. NeoLab contributes 280,000 kg of CO2 p.a. to support this project.

But that's not all. Low-emission power generation provides the local population with a more stable power grid and creates long-term employment contracts in a region where most jobs are temporary positions in agriculture.

We are proud that by paying above the regional minimum wage, we can help improve the living standards of employees. At neoLab, we believe that sustainability and social responsibility are inextricably linked, and we are proud to contribute to India's sustainable development.

Climate neutral

As part of our neoGreen philosophy, it is important to us at neoLab to take responsibility for our carbon footprint and do our part to protect the climate. In addition to all the other aspects, we have nevertheless decided to offset our current emissions through a compensation project in India. Although there are critical voices that consider compensation to be an insufficient measure, we see it as an important component that does more good than harm. We are, of course, aware that this can only be part of the measures taken.
