Non-sterile Minisart® HY syringe filters are available in bulk packs. This reduces waste and facilitates handling whenever the application allows filtration or aeration under non-sterile conditions. Due to its hydrophobicity, the PTFE membrane acts as a water barrier and is not wetted by aerosols. This keeps the hydrophobic breather filter permeable to gas or air. The activated carbon filling adsorbs molecules, e.g. unpleasant odor produced by polymerization reactions. The housing is made of MBS (methacrylate-butadiene-styrene) acrylic granulate, which has limited compatibility with alcohols, but is phthalate-free and passes the VI plastic class test.
