Vivapore® 5 and Vivapore® 10/20 are ready-to-use, single-use static concentrators for samples up to 20 ml. They are mainly used for the concentration of macromolecules from urine, spinal fluid or other biological samples. Two different units are available: Vivapore® 5 for concentration of up to 5 ml samples and Vivapore® 10/20 for concentration of samples with an initial volume of 10 ml, expandable to 20 ml with an "expansion reservoir". Since no additional equipment is required, solvent absorption is a very economical and user-friendly method of sample concentration for clinical applications. Simply fill the unit with the sample to be concentrated, wait until the desired concentration level is reached, and then withdraw the concentrate from the sample reservoir's deadstop reservoir using a pipette. Vivapore® concentrators are offered as individual sample chambers along with disposable plastic racks for up to four units. Unlike other, larger products with multiple adjacent concentration chambers, there is no risk of cross-contamination between individual Vivapore® units. Vivapore® 5 and Vivapore® 10/20 are widely used for the concentration of urine and subsequent analysis of Bence-Jones proteins by gel electrophoresis or capillary gel electrophoresis.
