Vivacon 2 is optimally tuned for concentration and buffer exchange of genomic DNA and peptide samples of up to 2 ml starting volume. They are also the product of choice for peptide fractionation in this volume range. To achieve optimal results with highly diluted samples, e.g. forensic sample material, Vivacon 2 is equipped with the patented Hydrosart® regenerated cellulose membrane. This has extremely low non-specific binding properties and also guarantees fast flow rates. Selected cut offs are also available sterile and DNA free* (PCR grade units). For this purpose, the units have been gassed with a dual cycle ethylene oxide (ETO) and are thus sterile up to a safety assurance of 106 and frei of detectable human genomic DNA. This was verified by a qPCR assay over 55 cycles with a detection limit of < 2pg.High recoveries and excellent reproducibility are complemented by the user-friendly scaling of each unit and imprinted MWCO. Vivacon 2 has a horizontally oriented membrane that is ideally suited for both DNA fractionation applications (primer removal) and peptide fractionation applications (Filter Aided Sample Preparation, FASP1).
