Rapid detection methods of Mycoplasma contamination are critical for improved monitoring of the biologics production process. The first kit in the qPCR kit product family for the detection of Mycoplasma is the Microsart® AMP Mycoplasma Kit. This kit can be used without much effort as no special hardware is required. The kit can be used with all current real-time PCR instruments that can detect the fluorescent dyes FAM™ and ROX™. The entire assay procedure takes only 3 hours. The Microsart® AMP Mycoplasma Kit has been successfully validated according to chapter EP 2.6.7 in combination with EP 2.6.21 in terms of sensitivity, specificity and robustness. Carefully selected primer/probe combinations are highly specific for a region within the 16S rRNA gene for more than 110 mycoplasma species. The previously optional concentration step with Vivaspin® 20 or Vivaspin® 6 gives you a lot of flexibility regarding the initial volume for DNA extraction. You have the possibility to analyze a test volume from 200 µl up to 18 ml, giving you high sensitivity. The kit contains all essential components in a functionally tested, ready-to-use master mix including the polymerase.
