HiGlutaXL™ media contain the stabilized dipeptide form of L-glutamine, L-alanyl-L-glutamine. HiGlutaXL™ thus offers several advantages over classic, glutamine-containing media: The dipeptide form prevents an intramolecular cyclization reaction and thus the formation of cell-toxic ammonia. Cellular aminopeptidases can cleave the dipeptide, providing a gradual release of L-glutamine and L-alanine. This continuous supply means that the regular addition of L-glutamine can be dispensed with.
