Midisart® 2000 filtration units are ideal in the field of biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, research facilities where sterile vents, bioisolation or sterile air and gases are required. The Midisart® 2000 is excellent for the following applications: - sterile aeration of filling vessels and fermenters, including cell culture vessels and CO2 incubators (6 to 120 liters) - aeration of storage vessels for sterile, distilled water and liquid media cultures - autoclave aeration - in-line sterilization of and particulate removal of air and gases, such as air sterilization for small fermenters. Midisart® 2000 filtration units are specially designed to ensure easy handling with maximum safety. Tubing olives provide an easy and secure hold for tubing with an inner diameter of 6-12mm. Midisart® 2000 is very light, weighing only 20g, preventing tubing from being pushed down and kinked. Advantages for the user: 1. Easy handling: Midisart® 2000 is supplied individually packaged and pre-sterilized, allowing direct connection. 2. Reliability and safety: Midisart® 2000 can be tested for integrity and provides reproducible results. - The membrane is reinforced with a grid of polypropylene, which gives the Midisart® 2000 unit additional stability and makes it resistant to pressures up to 3 bar (approx. 44 psi). - Midisart® 2000 completely prevents moisture breakthrough due to its natural hydrophobic PTFE material. In addition, Midisart® 2000 is biocompatible according to USP Plastics Class VI. - Midisart® 2000 units can withstand at least 20 autoclaving cycles without losing performance. The convenient memory discs supplied with each Midisart® 2000 in UPN coded boxes allow the user to keep track of the number of autoclaving cycles by marking each cycle. According to GLP and ISO standards for traceable documentation, this feature of the Midisart® 2000 is the appropriate solution. 3. Quality Control Certificate: Each unit is automatically 100% tested to ensure that the housing and diaphragm seals are defect-free. This is part of our Zero-Defect quality control testing. - The lot number and individual Midisart® 2000 unit number are printed on the housing of each Midisart® 2000 to ensure complete traceability. Before the Midisart® 2000 units are packaged, they undergo a visual inspection. In addition to 100% leak testing, random samples taken from each lot undergo the following tests to ensure Sartorius Stedim Biotech's in-house quality standards: - Housing pressure test - Pressure retention test - Bubble point test - Pyrogen test - Sterile filtration capability - Flow rate test - Sterility test. Performance: With a diameter of only 64mm, the Midisart® 2000 covers a filter area of 20cm², meaning Midisart® 2000 achieves peak performance in flow rate. However, Midisart® 2000 multiplies the filtration performance not only in this way. It can be autoclaved at least 20 times at a temperature of 134°C. Chemical compatibility: The materials used in the Midisart® 2000 (PTFE and polypropylene) ensure excellent compatibility with solutions and other chemicals. Despite its high compatibility, the Midisart® 2000 can be affected by different factors, e.g. temperature, concentration, composition, etc.. Therefore, we recommend performing a test filtration run to determine if the Midisart® 2000 is compatible with the particular media to be filtered. The Midisart® 2000 can also be used for filtration of water solutions. In this case, the membrane must first be moistened with alcohol to overcome the hydrophobicity of the membrane.
