Outstanding performance of Borostar® borosilicate glass type 3.3

High resistance

  • No disturbing influences on the laboratory test due to the inert behaviour of Borostar® glass, which ensures that there are no interactions between the medium and the glass.
  • Highly resistant to water, neutral and acidic solutions, strong acids and mixtures against chlorine, bromine, iodine and organic substances.
  • Self-protecting mechanism of the glass surface by forming a silicate gel layer that shields against penetration.

Extreme resistance to thermal expansion

  • Extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion of 3.3 x 10-6 K-1 means that the glass expands by only 3.3 x 10-6 relative length units with a temperature change of 1 K.
  • Variable thermal shock stability depending on the wall thickness.
  • Resistance to extremely high temperatures with a softening point of 825°C and service temperatures of up to 500°C.
  • Resistance to extremely low temperatures, as Borostar® glass is even suitable for use at temperatures around absolute zero and in liquid nitrogen (approx. -196°C).
