Both universal platforms and preloaded platforms are available in many different materials and sizes for virtually any requirement. Universal platforms have multiple holes for virtually any combination of piston holders and other accessories. Preloaded platforms are used when only one size of piston is used. Preloaded platforms have mounted retaining clips and can hold a larger number of pistons than universal platforms, but do not offer their versatility.
