DURAN® desiccator lid, type NOVUS, DN 150 The DURAN® desiccator is a laboratory vessel suitable for vacuum with a ground-glass lid, which is used for storing moisture-sensitive substances and for drying moist products. Separated by a sieve plate (made of metal or porcelain), a drying agent is placed in the lower part of the desiccator base, which binds the moisture of the substance to be dried, placed on the sieve plate. To accelerate the drying process, a vacuum can be connected if necessary, since a lower pressure in the desiccator causes the liquid to evaporate more quickly. The vacuum is applied via a stopcock connection. To make it easier to loosen the lid, the face of the desiccator must be well greased, as the lid is pressed onto the lower part after evacuation. All DURAN® desiccators are vacuum-proof, i.e. they can be used up to the maximum vacuum technically possible.
