Sartopore® Platinum sets new standards in sterile filtration. These filter cartridges use a heterogeneous double membrane of hydrophilized polyethersulfone and have been specially developed to meet the needs for filtration of pharmaceutical products. The new and innovative technologies used for these filter cartridges result in unprecedented performance data. The use of Sartopore® Platinum for the critical step of sterile filtration results in a unique combination of quality, performance and cost efficiency. Outstanding performance data Excellent wettability High chemical compatibility (pH 1-14) Temperature stable Low unspecific protein binding Low extractables level Reliable integrity testing New surface coating A new hydrophilization process (patent pending) has been developed to permanently modify the membrane surface. In this process, a thermally extremely stable and hydrophilic polymer is applied directly to the complete surface of the membrane. This technology produces the membrane properties that are responsible for the exceptionally good wettability and low protein binding of Sartopore® Platinum even after extreme chemical and thermal stress. This allows multiple evaporation cycles in dry and wet conditions and in both directions without negative consequences in terms of wettability and integrity testing. New pleating technology - TwinPleat The new, innovative TwinPleat technology (patent pending) features an alternating sequence of long and short pleats aligned at a specific angle. This special design significantly increases the effective filter area (e.g. 66% compared to Sartopore® 2), and optimizes hydrodynamics during the filtration process. This results in an exceptionally long service life for the filter cartridges, making the filtration process much more efficient. Applications Due to its high chemical compatibility and excellent performance data, Sartopore® Platinum is suitable for most filtration applications in the manufacture of pharmaceutical and biotechnological products. Excellent wettability Sartopore® Platinum filter cartridges are very easy to wet. Less than 5 liters of WFI is required to reliably wet a 10'' cartridge and then test for integrity. The excellent wettability allows WFI consumption to be significantly reduced, resulting in a significant reduction in filtration costs. Reliable integrity testing Insufficient wetting is one of the main reasons for failed filter integrity tests. In such a case, the affected filter must be re-wetted and retested. In addition to the extra cost of the additional tests, there is the risk of losing an entire production batch if the filter fails repeatedly. The excellent wetting behavior of Sartopore® Platinum helps to eliminate this risk. The use of Sartopore® Platinum results in unprecedented reliability in integrity testing. Scale Up: The identical performance data of the different heights in terms of square meters of filter area and by using the complete membrane area during the filtration process, Sartopore® Platinum filters are perfectly scalable from small heights to large production scale. Microbiological retention Sartopore® Platinum filter cartridges are validated as sterile filter cartridges according to HIMA and ASTM F-838-05 guidelines. Packaging All filter cartridges are double packed to facilitate transfer to cleanroom areas.
