The desired final fineness is also determined by the selected sieve tray with trapezoidal or round perforation. Sieve trays with round perforations are recommended for shredding brittle material and medium fineness with a narrow grain width band. Sieve trays with trapezoidal perforations are also available. These are suitable for rapid size reduction of medium-hard to soft materials; the trapezoidal perforation produces an additional shearing effect. Sieve trays are also available with other perforations.
