Our story begins with the Neuenheimer Feld. The Neuenheimer Feld: the science location in Heidelberg established itself to a significant part of Heidelberg in the last century. The chemical institutes were the first university institutions to be moved there - and neoLab was there right from the start!
Nowadays it is impossible to imagine Heidelberg without it: the Neuenheimer Feld. Today's main location for science, technology and medicine developed in the early 20th century. The first important institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research and the Surgical Clinic settled between the World Wars. After the Second World War, more and more research and university buildings followed: more medical facilities, the DKFZ and other scientific faculties.
The first university to establish itself in Neuenheimer Feld was the chemical institute in the middle of the 20th century. Well-known chemists were co-founders of this institute. Their efforts have relocated and modernized the new facility, where we can find it today.
"The professional and open manner of the two women enriched the daily laboratory routine of the students and professors every day"
From the beginning, neoLab had a small laboratory shop in these new chemical institutes in Neuenheimer Feld. Here, professors and students were given laboratory equipment and consumables - everything that was needed in a laboratory. Also, private came to this shop for their own use of laboratory materials. Founded and launched by Kurt Migge, this laboratory shop was a central anchor of the chemical institutes until 1991.
The two employees, Ms. Eck and Ms. Haas, were able to borrow, buy, or hand in laboratory equipment for repair. They took care of the range, responded to customers' needs and helped wherever they could. The professional and open nature of the two women enriched the daily practice of the students and professors every day. These skills have made neoLab a popular partner of the chemical institutes of Heidelberg University.
