For fast and gentle electrotransfer of proteins in the Western blot.
The BlueBlot Semi-Dry Blotter provides a particularly homogeneous electric field, which ensures fast and efficient transfer of proteins from the gel to the membrane. Compared to the tank blot method, this method generates much less heat, which in turn ensures gentler protein transfer. The semi-dry method is also significantly faster and uses much less buffer. When using the Xpress Blotting Kit (Cat. No. 42662), uniform transfer of both high and low molecular weight proteins occurs within 15 minutes. In addition, all standard continuous and discontinuous buffer systems can be used without restriction.
The anode and cathode are steel meshes coated with platinum. The spring-mounted anode allows the blotting of thicker gels or of gel stacks. The sturdy acrylic housing is resistant to 10% alcohol and easy to clean. The durable electrodes can be easily removed from the housing and cleaned.
The BB-SD11 blotter has a blotting area of 11 cm x 11 cm. The larger 17 cm x 17 cm electrodes, available separately under catalog number BB-E17, also fit into the housing of the BB-SD11, making the instrument suitable for blotting larger gels or multiple mini-gels.
